Juliette Freire, 32, made an outburst this Friday (10) on account of some comments received on her social networks. The ‘BBB 21’ champion revealed that she had been the target of xenophobic attacks and criticized those who still criticize the northeastern accent. Upset with the episode, she also warned that she does not intend to neutralize it, especially in the advertising campaigns in which she is the star.
“I was reading some comments and, guys, I get such horrible haters, I can’t believe it. I swear to you that I don’t get sad and I even laugh at some criticisms. But there are comments that make me really angry, especially the ones xenophobic. They talk a lot about my accent”, admits the singer.
‘Why doesn’t she neutralize that accent?’, ‘Why doesn’t she sing music as she is?’. These are some of the bizarre things I receive”, comments Juliette, who also promised to expose the messages someday. She also made a point of leaving a direct message for people, who she classified as “intolerant”.
“I’m going to explain to you how strong this is still, how much criticizing the northeastern accent is still rooted and naturalized in our society so you can understand what happens. northeastern accent in advertisements, in large advertisements, yes! Because we are multiple, we [os nordestinos] we consume other types of music besides forró, in addition to our very beautiful culture, we sing rock, rap, funk, hip-hop… Everything too, you know?”, she joked.
