Pantanal: Even though it’s a sin, I want you to cheer for the love between brothers, says actor

New characters are entering ‘Pantanal’ to move the novel, and one of them is the eldest son of the extramarital relationship of Tenório (Murilo Benício) and Zuleica (Aline Borges). Played by Lucas Leto, 23, Marcelo is scheduled to arrive at his father’s farm in the chapter that will air this Monday (13). He and Guta (Julia Dalavia), his supposed half-sister, are going to fall in love.

In the original version, the two have sex and she ends up getting pregnant. The issue of incest enters into debate, in a plot with some twists. in a conversation with F5 in between recordings, Leto says he knows the challenge it is to make the viewer root for Guta and Marcelo’s romance. “Of course I want people to ‘ship’ the couple even though love between siblings is called a sin, which is not acceptable in our society. I hope that happens.”

What is it like to play a character who brings the issue of incest to the plot, when he falls in love with his supposed half-sister?

(Interrupting) It’s complicated. It was very difficult to try to understand this love, this connection he has with Guta. At first Marcelo did not know about the relationship. But after he discovers that the two are half-siblings, he begins to repress the love, affection, care and hard-on he had already built.

Not so repressed, since they They’ll stay together and get laid. Don’t you fear public rejection?

The interesting thing will be this: How Marcelo and Guta will deal with mixed feelings under the same roof and make people ‘ship’ the couple even though they know that love between brothers is called a sin, which is not acceptable in our society. I pray that this happens.

Have you ever filmed the sex scene? How it was?

We haven’t recorded yet. The only thing I know is that the touch between them is almost like a shock. The business is too strong.

When the first version of the telenovela was shown, in 1990, Guta became pregnant with Marcelo and the two ended up together, after discovering that they do not have the same father. Do you think the ending will be kept?

I think so. I put myself in Marcelo’s shoes and the probability of you having a relationship with a relative without knowing it is very extreme and unrealistic. How does a person fall madly in love and discover that they have your blood in the other too? Craziness. But, studying the text, I got it into my head that they weren’t brothers and would end up together.

Do you follow the repercussion of the soap opera while you are recording in the Pantanal?

We see almost nothing. We are very immersed and involved, but I follow a little and I am scared that I have not yet entered the soap opera and already receive several private messages.

What kind of messages?

Like ‘How hot Marcelo is!’, ‘If shirtless is all that, imagine without the rest’… My God! I’m super uncomfortable. There are other heavy comments, and I’m not used to it (laughs). I get scared.

What do you do on breaks?

The photos we post in the river or in the pool are rare and punctual, the recordings are very intense. We slept early. Don’t you watch the soap opera?

Yup. We watched it together and this is everyone’s meeting. The soap opera is so good, and this is a general consensus, that we want to see how it is being assembled and presented to the public. We watched and celebrated.

Celebrating how?

People scream and applaud the scenes of Maria Bruaca, which Isabel Teixeira is doing so well. It vibrates with the empowerment of this woman, the turn of Bruaca.
