I wish she were a man, says Maitê Proença about Adriana Calcanhotto

Being canceled when exposing more sincere opinions is a risk that is currently taken, and that doesn’t scare Maitê Proença. The actress has always spoken openly about what she wanted and, now, almost a year after her relationship with Adriana Calcanhotto became public, she seems more comfortable to include her love life in the list of subjects to be approached with naturalness and sincerity.

“I wanted her [Adriana] were a man. For this activity I always liked men better. But she’s a woman, I like her and I accept that. I know feminists and LGBT people aren’t going to like what I just said, but honestly, that’s how it is, you know? I can try something different to be with her,” Maitê told JP magazine.

In the interview, she again shows solidarity with Regina Duarte, Jair Bolsonaro’s former Secretary of Culture. “I was criticized a lot for defending Regina. I still don’t understand why this government has shown itself to be so wrong, so contrary to our class… But I’m not going to patrol a colleague I’ve known for 30 years and I know she’s not a perverse person. I thought it was horrible for them to do that, you know? Regina’s thinking has always been different from mine but she’s entitled to think what she wants”.

Regina was one of Globo’s oldest employees when she decided to break her contract to serve Bolsonarismo. She was an employee of the station for 50 years and chose to leave. Maitê is part of the extensive list of recently released stars. In her case, in 2016, when she was about to complete four decades of Globo badge on her chest.
