The comic and movie company Marvel Comics (a subsidiary of Disney) will present its first gay Spider-Man as the last variation of the superhero in the Spider-Versethe “spider universe”, where there is more than one “spider-man”.

Marvel will introduce its first gay Spider-Man, a new character called Web-Weaver, in the series’ upcoming fifth issue Edge of Spider-Versewhich will be released in September.

The author of Edge of Spider-Verse #5, Steve Fox, unveiled an image of Marvel’s first gay Spider-Man, Web-Weaver, on his Twitter account. “One thing I realized right away when I caught Web-Weaver is that it can’t — and shouldn’t — represent ALL gay men,” Fox wrote.

“No single character can. Her fearless female identity is central to who she is, but it’s not the STORY…which you can experience in person in September!” he added.

The character designed as Web-Weaver was created by Chris Anka who mentioned among other things that he was inspired by famous fashion designers. “From the beginning, I looked at many McQueen and Migler as inspiration”Anka wrote on June 23.
