Water is your closest ally, especially on hot summer days. It is not only important because it quenches your thirst, but also because it plays an important role in basic functions of your body
Water, for example, helps you keep your body temperature constant and at normal levels. Through sweating, your body expels water and cools itself. Thus, it keeps your temperature constant and does not allow it to be affected by the thermal loads you receive due to heat.
So in the summer, when the conditions become more extreme, proper hydration is essential. If you don’t drink enough water, your body will start to complain and you will know it immediately.
Bloating is a very common consequence of insufficient hydration. Yes, that familiar annoying bloating, which you get mainly in the summer, just enough to ruin your mood and your body.
The research
So according to the research, published in January 2022, in The Journal of Nutrition, of the Oxford Academy, experts concluded that water significantly affects the health of the gastrointestinal system.
The survey involved 3,000 people from the UK and America, who were divided into two groups. The first group included those who drink enough water, while the second included those who hardly drink any.
The results were cataclysmic. In the first group, the amount of intestinal bacteria was minimal compared to those who did not drink any water and who had an abundance of bacteria in their intestines. And even a large amount of campylobacter was detected.
Campylobacter are bacteria that cause infections in the intestines and in general, in the gastrointestinal system. They cause diarrhoea, gastroenteritis, vomiting, pain and intense bloating – tympanic.
So in a few words, a hydrated body obviously has much less campylobacter than one that is not adequately hydrated.
The swell, the water, the summer
So since in the summer, you expel large amounts of water, you must also replenish them. After all, proper hydration, apart from keeping the fluids in your body in balance, quenches your thirst and protects you from various infections and inflammations.
Even more so, when you are dealing with bloating or constipation, which if you are burdened with it, it will be difficult to get rid of it.
According to Sophie Medlin, specialist nutritionist and founder of City Dietitians, which is a specialist dietetic clinic in England, it’s all about hydration.
More specifically, Medlin told Stylish.Uk, that when you don’t hydrate properly, the body in a sense confiscates moisture from all parts of the body and from the intestines. And in such a dry environment germs and bacteria stay and eventually party.
If you don’t care and don’t pay attention, the problem can develop into a chronic condition, such as diverticulitis, and cause you a lot of trouble.
So, because the problem can get deeper, just drink a little more water.
