Actress and singer Lea Michele, 35, will replace Beanie Feldstein in the Broadway remake of the musical “Funny Girl.” After the announcement, the artist’s name became the second most commented topic on Twitter, on Monday afternoon (11).

Throughout the six seasons of “Glee”, Rachel Berry sings almost every song on “Funny Girl”, and after graduation, the character goes on to star in the remake of the musical. “We were thinking of doing it right after ‘Glee,’ but I did a lot of the ‘Funny Girl’ songs on the show, so it felt a little brief,” she said in 2017 of being in the production.
Feldstein announced this Sunday (10) that he would leave the show on July 31. She attributed her early departure to a decision by the production to “take the musical in a different direction”. Michele is expected to assume the role on September 6.
In the meantime, actress Julie Benko will play Fanny Brice between August 2 and September 4, and Thursdays from September 8. Jane Lynch, who plays Mrs. Brice is also leaving production earlier than expected and will be replaced by Tovah Feldshuh (“Yentl”) effective September 6.
