Gucci vs … Gucci. The heirs of the Italian fashion house Gucci threatened on Monday to take legal action against Ridley Scott’s film House of Gucci, which they accuse of describing the family members as “hooligans”.
The film deals with one of the most shocking events that Italy experienced in the 1990s, the assassination of Mauricio Gucci (played by Adam Driver), heir to the Italian house, which was ordered by his ex-wife Patricia Regiani ( Gaga).
“The Gucci family reserves the right to take any initiative to protect the name and image of those close to them,” said a letter from the Italian news agency ANSA, signed by Aldo’s heirs. Gucci (1905-1990), the founder of the famous fashion house.
The letter notes that Gucci heirs have been particularly hurt by the portrayal of Patricia Retziani, played by Lady Gaga, “a woman convicted of ordering the assassination of Mauricio Gucci (and posing as a victim).”
It is also sad that Aldo Gucci and his relatives are described as “hooligans, ignorant and unconscious of the world around them.”
The Gucci family has not been involved in the fashion house since the 1990s. Today, the house belongs to the French Kering group, founded by billionaire François Pino.
