It is considered as the biggest cultural project in Dubai

The newest library – and cultural center – in the Arab world exemplifies its goal through architecture: from the outside, it looks like an open book on a lectern.

The 54,000 square meters of the new Library of Mohammed bin Rashid in Dubai invites the public to explore over one million printed or digital books as well as more than six million research articles. An entire floor is dedicated to rare and ancient objects, including some dating back to the 13th century.

The “Library of Mohammed bin Rashid” is the newest library in the Arab world. We have ensured from the beginning that it is a modern library and a source of knowledge“, said the president of the library, Mr Mohammed al-Murr.

It is considered as the biggest cultural project in Dubai. In addition to its unique architectural combination, it has environmentally friendly features: solar panels and a water recycling system for the green spaces in the library.

The announcement of the project in February 2016 coincided with the ‘Year of Reading’. Although its opening was planned for 2018, it finally started welcoming the public a month ago.
