‘It’s not easy’, says Silvia Poppovic about her husband’s leukemia treatment

This Monday afternoon (25th), presenter Silvia Poppovic, 67, used Instagram stories to update the health status of her husband, doctor Marcello Bronstein, who underwent a bone marrow transplant eleven days ago and is still hospitalized in recovery. Nine months ago, the endocrinologist was diagnosed with leukemia.

“Obviously it’s not easy, the process is delicate, but we started years to approach the date of the ‘take’, today is the D+11 day, that is, eleven days of the transplant. We are approaching the important day after our daughter has donated healthy stem cells for Marcello”, began the presenter.

The couple’s daughter, Ana, was the one who donated the bone marrow to Bronstein and the news given by the doctors was already considered good. “We learned of a 10 leukocyte count in Marcello’s body, that is, his marrow starts working, because this count was zero. It’s like a pregnancy test, a feeling of joy, euphoria. This shows that the cells are starting to organize themselves and then reproduce”, celebrated Silvia.

Two weeks ago, she published a photo of the heiress preparing for a bone marrow transplant and made a beautiful statement to the young woman: “A gesture of love, generosity that can and will save the father’s life.
We are very hopeful and excited!”
