Frida Kahlo’s family has approved a new stage musical based on the life story of the Mexican painter titled “Frida, The Musical” which is set to open on Broadway.
“Frida still has so much to teach us and I am thrilled to be given the opportunity to honor her life and work through this most expressive of mediums“, said producer Valentina Berger. “Her spirit is very much alive in our young creative team“, he said.
Valentina Berger along with the Frida Kahlo Foundation and BTF Media announced the project last week. The music will be by Mexican composer Jaime Lozano and the lyrics will be written by Obie Award-winning playwright Nina Bigger.
