Ashton Kutcher says he’s lucky to be alive after not seeing, hearing and walking

by

Ashton Kutcher, 44, spoke for the first time about an autoimmune disease that left him unable to see, hear or walk. The speech was recorded by the program “Running Wild with Bear Grylls: The Challenge”, which airs this Monday (8) in the United States, on the National Geographic channel.

“Two years ago, I had a strange and very rare form of vasculitis, which knocked my eyesight, my hearing and my balance down,” he said in a preview of the show that was exclusively obtained by the website Access Hollywood. In the video, he even tells the presenter that he took a year to recover.

Vasculitis is a rare autoimmune syndrome that causes inflammation of blood vessels. The disease, which can manifest itself in a variety of ways, restricts blood flow and can damage organs and tissues in the body.

“There are things that you don’t appreciate until they disappear”, evaluated the actor. “You can even say: I don’t know if I’ll see again, I don’t know if I’ll be able to hear again, I don’t know if I’ll be able to walk again’.”

“I’m lucky to be alive,” he observed. Despite the scare, Mila Kunis’ husband says he tries to see everything in life as an opportunity for growth. “The moment you start to see your obstacles as things that needed to happen, to give you what you need, life starts to get fun, doesn’t it? You start surfing your problems and living under them.”
