According to The Sun, the 49-year-old actor is keen to pursue other roles and has suggested other actors to producer Barbara Broccoli.
A source told the publication: “The fans and Barbara wanted Idris, but he wants to do his own thing.”
But they clarified “however, has suggested names to play 007. He is “unofficially” in the decision-making process as he has been talking to the producers for so long.”
It is recalled that at the premiere of his film The Harder They Fall in 2021, Idris clarified when asked that “no, I will not be James Bond”.
He also joked to The Express newspaper: “I’m probably the most famous Bond actor in the world and he hasn’t even played the part.” Then he added more seriously, “That’s enough. I can’t talk about it anymore.”
So far it is not known who will be the new agent 007. Among the names mentioned by the Daily Mail are Richard Madden of Game of Thrones, Tom Hardy and Reggae-Jean Page.
