After several controversies and accusations, actor Ezra Miller, 29, broke his silence and spoke about his behavior over the past two years. In a statement sent to the website Variety, he said that he is going through a moment of crisis and assured that he is already seeking treatment.
“Having recently been through a period of intense crisis, I now understand that I am suffering from complex mental health issues and have begun ongoing treatment,” it reads. “I want to apologize to everyone for being alarmed and upset by my past behavior.”
“I am committed to doing the work necessary to get back to a healthy, safe and productive stage in my life,” concluded the star of films such as “The Perks of Being a Wallflower” (2012), “Fantastic Beasts” (2016-2022) and “Justice League” (2017).
The actor has been arrested a few times in Hawaii this year on charges of assault. In addition, he was also accused of harassing a woman in Germany, asphyxiating another woman in Iceland and hosting three children and their mother on a farm with guns, an unsafe environment.
The allegations surrounding the actor have become a concern for Warner Bros Discovery, the studio responsible for films starring Miller, such as those from DC Comics and the “Harry Potter” spin-off, “Fantastic Beasts”. Criticism of the studio intensified after news broke that the movie “Batgirl” would be cut, but “The Flash” was not.
The feature film starring the actor is due for release on June 23, 2023, and features appearances by Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton, both playing Batman. A source also told Variety that Warner Bros. supports Miller’s decision to seek professional help.
