SYRIZA condemns with its announcement the attack of the president of the Hellenic Solution, Kyriakos Velopoulos, from the floor of the Parliament, against the member of the ND, Dimitris Kairides, stating that “it is absolutely condemnable”.

“Vulgar characterizations and insinuations against anyone have no place either in Parliament or in public debate. Such attitudes increase the dangerous discredit of the political world in the eyes of society. Those who are really interested in the quality of the political dialogue, must first of all definitively isolate such attitudes within their own parties, and not bring them back to their positions – as, for example, did Mr. Mitsotakis with D. Kyriazidis – those who display unacceptable behavior and vulgarly attack their political opponents”, notes SYRIZA.

And the fourth vice-president of the Parliament, and SYRIZA member of parliament Olga Gerovasili issued a statement stating: “Incidents like the one that occurred yesterday (i.e. the day before yesterday) in the Parliament, during the pre-day debate on foreign policy, when the president of the Hellenic Solution K. Velopoulos attacked the ND Member of Parliament D. Kairides, with a vulgar description – who, amid the noise of counter-complaints and while I addressed the same appeal to prevent the continuation of the episode, it was not initially noticed by the Bureau, nor by Mr. Kairides himself – they have no place in parliamentarism and are absolutely reprehensible.”
