Rap artist A$AP Rocky, 33, has pleaded not guilty to two felony counts of firearms assault related to an incident in November last year in which he allegedly shot a former friend in Hollywood.

On Wednesday (17), Rocky appeared in a Los Angeles courtroom alongside his lawyer, who told the judge that the artist would plead not guilty to the charges.

Prosecutors allege Rocky, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, pointed a semiautomatic weapon at a man during a “heated argument,” according to a statement from Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascon.

In a later confrontation, Rocky drew his weapon and fired twice in the direction of the man, who suffered a minor wound, the statement said.

In August 2019, Rocky received a suspended sentence for his role in a fight in Stockholm, Sweden.

The rapper and two members of his entourage were convicted of kicking and beating up a 19-year-old after an argument. They told the court they acted in self-defense.

Rocky and his partner, pop artist Rihanna, had a baby in May, according to press reports.
