NGOs that bring together cancer patients launched a manifesto and held this Friday (19), at 11 am, a protest for the rights of cancer patients who depend on SUS.
They ask for the expansion of vacancies for treatments and the review of the public table of consultations and procedures, whose lag has led hospitals affiliated to the SUS to give up on providing services.
This Monday (14th), the Sheet revealed that the AC Camargo Hospital will not renew the current contract it maintains with the City of São Paulo and will end the care to SUS patients.
According to the institution, the main reason is the lag of the SUS table, which means that every month the hospital has to provide its own resources to cover the gap caused by public consultations.
According to the entities, there are more than 600,000 Brazilians victimized by cancer every year and this number has been growing since Covid-19 pandemic.
“If nothing is done, cancer will be the first cause of death by 2030. The demeaning values of the SUS table show neglect and uncomfortable with the people while release billions for election campaigns and stewardships for high levels of governments,” says manifesto of the entities.
The document is signed by NGOs such as Somos Todos Uma, Projeto Mechas do Amor, Gama, Amor Rosa, Tribo do Bem, Projeto Divas, Rosa Mulher, Instituto Brasil+ Social and the Driblando o Câncer project.
For them, the federal, state and municipal governments flee the responsibility of ensuring health care to the population.
“They transfers to the agreed hospitals, such as AC Camargo, this arduous task of attending without even receiving for the costs of care.”
The manifestation of cancer and family patients takes place at 11am, in front of the City Hall, at the Tea Viaduct, downtown São Paulo.
