George Clooney turned down R$198 million per commercial to stay with his family

by

Actor George Clooney, 60, said in an interview that in recent years he has become much more selective about the roles and jobs he accepts. When asked by British newspaper The Guardian if he believes he has “enough money”, he responded with an example.

“Well, yes. I was offered $35 million [cerca de R$ 198 milhões] to work for a day on an airline commercial, but I talked to Amal [Clooney, sua esposa] about it and we decided it wasn’t worth it,” he said. The couple have been together since 2014, and are parents of four-year-old twins Alexander and Ella.

About the offer, he added: “It was from a country that, however much it is an ally [dos Estados Unidos, seu país], it’s questionable sometimes.” “So I thought, ‘Well, if it takes a minute of sleep, it’s not worth it.’

The millionaire stated that, on his 60th birthday, he and his fellow lawyer talked about the possibility of supporting the family by working less. “In general, there aren’t that many very good roles, and look, I don’t need to act,” he revealed. “I can still manage just fine, and we both love what we do. But we need to make sure we don’t get too busy. Part of that is making sure we’re living our lives.”

Clooney is currently shooting a movie called “Ticket to Paradise” with actress Julia Roberts, which is scheduled to open in 2022. His last works were in the features “Midnight Sky” and “Grizzly 2: The Predator”, both released in 2020.
