A former goddaughter of R. Kelly, 55, claimed to have had sex “hundreds of times” with the singer before turning 18. She is currently 37 years old and uses the pseudonym Jane. According to TMZ, she performed this Thursday (18) at the artist’s federal trial in Chicago.
She stated that she was only 15 years old when she started having sex with her then godfather. Jane said she couldn’t say no because she felt too intimate. She reportedly asked Kelly to be her godfather in 1990, when she was just 13 years old.
According to the alleged victim, the first sexual interaction between the two was when she was about 14 years old, and the singer touched her breast inside a recording studio in Chicago. Jane claimed that sexual intercourse took place at the artist’s home, the recording studio, tour bus and even hotel rooms.
Jane said he also had sex with other teenagers he had her recruit. In September 2021, he was convicted of sex trafficking, in a jury that took place in Brooklyn federal court for five and a half weeks. Jurors deliberated for just over a day before voting to convict on all counts.
Deveraux Cannick, Kelly’s attorney, told reporters outside the courthouse that the defense was “disappointed”. The sentencing hearing was scheduled for May 4 of this year. The singer, whose full name is Robert Sylvester Kelly, is one of the most influential people on trial for sex crimes after the #MeToo movement, which amplified the charges that have dogged him since the early 2000s.
