THE Anthony Carrigan (Anthony Carrigan) says alopecia has made him a better actor.

The actor – who plays NoHo Hank in the HBO comedy ‘Barry’ – started losing hair in his 20s. When he reached 30, she had to wear false eyelashes and wigs to play his character in ‘The Forgotten’.

Speaking to Page Six, Carrigan reported that “a number of people” said he would no longer take roles because of his hair loss.

“They told me I wasn’t attractive anymore,” recalls the 42-year-old actor. “They told me that I will not book roles. It was something I was so afraid of hearing since I was little.”

But the negative opinions made him even more determined to pursue the roles he really wanted.

“It gave me the passion and ignited the fire to prove them wrong,” he explained. “And that’s basically what I did.”

The actor noted that the alopecia has made him a better actor because he now embraces his ‘uniqueness’.

He added: “I feel like these days everyone is trying to conform in some way and I feel what makes people special. That’s where the interesting stuff comes from. Very interesting performances come from there.”

And clearly, Carrigan’s efforts paid off as he noted the “overwhelming” love he receives while playing NoHo Hank, a gay Chechen mobster with a heart of gold.

“Just the amount of people coming up to me and talking to me or expressing their admiration … it really makes me feel like I’m part of something very special,” he explained. “And I really try not to take anything for granted.”

And while he admits he’s been offered plenty of gangster roles since the success of ‘Barry’, he hopes to show Hollywood he’s capable of much more.

“Everybody seems to be setting their minds on one route,” he said. “I love playing the bad guys, it’s so much fun. But obviously, yes, there are so many more roles out there and so many more that I can do.”
