“Some of the Amateur PAOK do not want Ivan Savvidis to build Nea Toumba”…

Giorgos Kouventidis spoke to the radio station of Thessaloniki, “Radio Thessaloniki”, commenting on the negative response of AS PAOK for a meeting today with the executives of PAE in which they had been asked to deliver the memorandum of cooperation and to start the procedures for the team’s new stadium.

The communication director of PAE PAOK pointed out how the situation is at the moment, stressing that everyone in the team and he is trying to understand what is happening and why the attitude of the amateur is such.

“In any case, I have the impression, and I think that from what is happening, the world can form this impression, that there are some in the management of Amateur PAOK that obviously do not want Ivan Savvidis to build the stadium. Either because they have made commitments to others, or for some other reasons. One can only make assumptions here.

We are all trying to understand the reasons why Erasitheni’s side exhibits this behavior towards PAE PAOK and Ivan Savvidis, who in the years leading PAE PAOK, has given the Amateur around 21 million euros and two weeks ago, as I said, he gave 250 thousand because the Amateur said he was in great need”
he said among other things.

In detail, the communication director of PAE PAOK said:

“The facts themselves are pressing, not the PAOK PAOK letter. This has started on July 21, when we as PAE handed over to Erasitechnis a proposed memorandum that foresees everything and essentially codifies the construction of a new stadium. Everything is referred to in it. Timetable, warranties, indemnification clauses. We have received no response to that memorandum, until today.

On September 1st, the DP set up a technocratic committee with people of his own choosing, on September 22nd this committee handed the DP a memorandum that no one saw, because apparently the Amateur didn’t like it and it didn’t possibly satisfy their wants and they’ve been trying for a month now apparently to change it.

On September 25, a delegation came to PAE, they asked for money from the rights that AS has from the use of the name and the stadium by PAE. Indeed, in the following days, Ivan Savvidis sent 250 thousand euros to Erasitechnis.

Then they told us that on October 3rd they would deliver the memorandum to us, until today, which is October 17th, they have not sent the memorandum. Yesterday they told us that they are not ready and that next week they promise that they will be.

Of course, next week we will be in France for PAOK’s European game, we will not be here, I believe that nothing can be done next week either.

In any case, I have the impression, and I think that from what is happening, the world can also form this impression, that there are some in the management of Amateur PAOK that obviously do not want Ivan Savvidis to build the stadium. Either because they have made commitments to others, or for some other reasons. One can only make assumptions here.

We are all trying to understand the reasons why Erasitheni’s side exhibits this behavior towards PAE PAOK and Ivan Savvidis, who in the years leading PAE PAOK, has given the Amateur around 21 million euros and two weeks ago, as I said, he gave 250 thousand because the Amateur said he was in great need.

Of course, every year the PAE must give an amount to the Amateur. Based on our books and the books of the Amateur, PAE have advanced AS a large amount for the 2025-26 season, essentially almost the majority of the money they have to give.

I would also like to point out that, in essence, Amateur PAOK is a closed club. In its last elections, 217 people voted, while its current president, Mr. Alkis Isaiadis, was elected with 68 votes. So with 68 votes, one can manage the fortunes, the great fortune and the millions of revenues that one of the biggest clubs in Greece has on an annual basis. It’s a closed club, apparently because you can’t join easily, I don’t know exactly what’s going on. So such a big club and one of the biggest in Greece, can be managed by a man who was elected with 68 votes”.

“It is obvious that lately, some people are sucking candy that Ivan Savvidis has no money, that Ivan Savvidis will leave Greece. What do the facts say? How Savvidis, who according to some will leave, made the biggest transfer of a Greek footballer in the history of Greek football, giving 10 +2 million euros for Christos Zafeiris, a sports project is underway in Tagarades with a budget of 20 million euros and the first phase of the works will even end in the next few days.

At the Port, where Ivan Savvidis will leave as some say but he is here and will be here, the expansion project of the sixth pier has begun, an investment that will exceed 200 million euros. OPEN would sell it but it remains its own and is increasing its numbers, it has Porto Karas, Makedonia Palas, Souroti.

These are things that speak for themselves. We should make it clear that Ivan Savvidis’ investments in Greece today exceed 1 billion euros. We are talking about this man, who during his years at PAOK has invested around 250 million euros and PAOK has won titles.

“Maybe some people are not happy that Ivan Savvidis is here, but this is not a reason to disband PAOK”.
