Demi Lovato Regrets Emotional Trauma Left by Teen Rape: ‘I Still Cry’

Demi Lovato, 30, had already told that she was raped as a teenager. The rape, revealed in the documentary “Dancing with the Devil”, happened when she was still a Disney star. A year and a half after the release of the production, the singer returned to talk about her personal drama and assumed that she still deals with emotional trauma left by sexual abuse.

“Time can indeed heal wounds, but not all. Over time, dealing with it [estupro] it got easier. But there’s still a deep sadness that someone took my virginity from me when I was so young.”

Demi recalled that the hardest thing ended up being the encounters she still had with the rapist, since he also worked at Disney. “That person was always around. Like, he was at Disney. So seeing her there was really hard and it really messed me up. It messed up my teenage years,” she recalled. “I still cry a lot and I feel sad”, commented the singer.

Not wanting to open up too much about the man’s identity, Demi Lovato said he wasn’t part of the Disney circle of people she had most contact with at the time. At the age of 15, the actress also starred in the films of “Camp Rock” (2008-2010). “I’ve been asked who it was. There were some speculations, but this person was friends with someone from the set and visited us all the time”, shot Demi.

In the documentary, Lovato commented that the two were dating and that’s why she even blamed herself for the rape. “We were making out, but I said, ‘Hey, this doesn’t go any further. I’m a virgin and I don’t want to lose my virginity like that.’ But, he did. I got tired of blaming myself because I walked into the room with him anyway. . I stayed with him anyway”, she assumed.
