An underwater body found in a California reservoir belonged to missing teenager Keeley Rodney.

The Nevada County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Rodney’s identity Tuesday following an autopsy.

“We are in communication with the Keeley family and offer our deepest condolences during this extremely difficult time,” the sheriff’s office said.

Investigations into his death are still ongoing.

Rodney’s body was found by divers in the Prosser Creek reservoir on Sunday.

His body was found in a silver Honda CRV 14 feet down. The car was found not far from the campsite where it disappeared on August 6.

Originally from Truk, California, Rodney was 16 years old when he died. He had just graduated from high school and was last seen at a graduation party at the nearby Proser Family Camp.

Authorities initially investigated her disappearance as a possible kidnapping. An initial police survey of an 80-mile radius of the Tahoe National Forest returned no results.

On August 10, the government asked the public for help. They reportedly received more than 2,000 pieces of information about his disappearance.

His body and car were eventually found by Adventures With Purpose, a dive group in Bend, Oregon that investigates missing persons cases. They claim to have closed 23 pending cases since 2019.

It is not yet known how Rodney’s car fell into the sea. Authorities determined that he would have to walk 75 feet from shore to get to where he was found.

The Rodney Neiman family said, “As we embrace the sadness of the shadow of death, the rising sun shines down on us, and instead of mourning our loss, we embrace the spirit of Keeley and the gifts we have received from knowing her.” . Early today
