Marília Mendonça’s brother says he thought about giving up music

João Gustavo, brother of Marília Mendonça, stated in an interview with Fantástico (Globo) this Sunday (5) that he thought about giving up music when he lost his sister a month ago.

However, he decided to pursue his career and launched this Sunday the country duo with Dom Vittor. The two were sponsored on the program by Maiara and Maraísa, who formed the trio “As Patroas” with Marília.

“My first thought was: ‘I’m going to stop,'” stated João Gustavo. “But then I thought: ‘if I stop, I’ll have to carry the pain of having lost my sister and the pain of having failed,'” he said.

Alongside the twins, the duo Dom Vittor and Gustavo sang the hits “Ângulo Perfeito” and “Calculista”.

Maiara and Maraísa also recalled the launch of the Mistresses, which took place on the Sunday program, about a month before Marília’s death.

“We are receiving a lot of strength from the fans. We have to be grateful for having lived all this with her. We feel privileged, because she chose us,” stated Maiara.

“At the launch, the three of us were very happy, we were very dedicated, we lived that intensely”, completed Maraísa. “We’ll sing the way she would like to see us sing. Music also heals,” he added.
