“There are still steps to be taken, the first of which is to send the agreement (of the governing coalition) to all the coalition partners, to clarify the text and we are waiting for their comments,” the party co-chair told bTV today. Change “Kiril Petkov.
“If all goes well, we hope to have a final agreement by Wednesday, which will include all policies and the distribution of ministries,” he added.
Petkov said he liked to refer to the coalition agreement as a “contract” because, just like in a contract, everyone must be responsible, and joint agreements are not just recommendations, but will be part of the action plan. “I really hope we have a proposed new cabinet by the end of next week,” he said.
The responsibility will be given to the coalition partners and the persons they have appointed. Each party will be able to nominate its best candidates, who it believes are the most suitable for the ministry in charge, Petkov said, noting that even deputy ministers will be selected by the appointed minister.
“We will allow the ministers themselves to choose their groups and demand results from them. Each party will have the freedom to choose its candidates and we will not interfere,” he said.
Petkov said he was surprised that there is not a single issue that has caused much pressure so far. “The only thing that caused tensions, which we clarified, was when the budget had to be approved,” he said, referring to talks between the partners.
