“Running Up That Hill” became the song of the summer in Britain

The song reached number 1 in the UK singles chart in June when it was chosen as the soundtrack to the fourth season of Stranger Things. Between June and August, it was the top choice with the most streams

According to the Official Chart Company the success “Running Up That Hill” by Kate Bush, became the ‘Song of the Summer’ in the UK, 37 years after its original release among songs by Harry Styles, Lizzo and George Ezra.

The song, which appeared on Bush’s fifth album Hounds Of Love, released in 1985, reached number 1 in the UK singles chart in June when it was chosen as the soundtrack to the fourth season of Stranger Things, while between June and August, it was the top pick with the most streams of any song (86.6 million) and the most digital downloads (over 42,000).

On its original release 37 years ago, ‘Running Up That Hill…’ reached number 3 in the UK and later climbed the charts in 2012 when a revamped version of the song was used at the closing ceremony of the London Olympics.
