Zac Efron Says Jaw Fracture Caused His Face to Change

by

Actor Zac Efron, 34, commented for the first time on his face transformation in 2021 and attributed the change to a fractured jaw. The injury would have been the result of a fall when he was running in his socks at home, he told Men’s Health magazine.

The change in the actor’s face was first noticed in April 2021, which raised suspicions that the star would have undergone plastic surgery to make his features stronger. The following month, however, a friend denied the procedure.

Efron explained it just now and said he slipped, hit the corner of a granite fountain, passed out and woke up with his “jaw bone hanging down”. During recovery, his facial muscles would have gotten “very, very big” to compensate for the injury.

The actor, famous for films like “High School Music” and “Hairspray”, said he heard from his mother about the rumors of plastic surgery, but he didn’t care as he always prefers to stay away from the networks. He did, however, undergo physical therapy to counteract the change in his face.

“If I valued what other people think of me as much as they think I do, I definitely wouldn’t be able to do this job,” the actor told the publication. He also had already broken his jaw in 2013.

Efron also revealed other injuries he suffered, in the shoulder, wrist and back, but these were the result of heavy training for the movie “Baywatch”. Physical exertion would also have caused depression and insomnia. According to him, six months after the recordings, the problems persisted.

Another revelation made by the actor was the coexistence with agoraphobia, which corresponds to the fear of public places. “I just don’t go out,” he said, who called “people in large groups” a “trigger” for his anxiety disorder.
