Economou: The subsidy will continue to be for everyone

by

As long as the crisis lasts, the government will exhaust every possibility it has to be on the side of society, said the government spokesman

“The subsidy will still be for everyone. And as long as the energy crisis lasts, we will exhaust every possibility that exists and every possibility that we create to be on the side of society. Already, we are running the largest energy support program in Europe” said the government representative Giannis Oikonomou on the main news bulletin at Alpha. The government representative noted that from then on the program will dynamically adapt to developments, “so that there is the possibility of continuing to support the vast majority of society and what we have said is respected: That the largest part of the increases, in whatever as far as electricity is concerned, it will still be covered by state aid, whether it comes from the state budget or from the pricing mechanism we have found.”

Mr. Economou emphatically reiterated that there will still be support for electricity for everyone and the whole world, depending on what they consume, will still see support.

“Possibly, there will be a scale, which, however, will also take into account particular characteristics. That is, it will not be something that will be horizontal. There are particularities. There are areas of the country where the need for electricity is much greater, for heating compared to some others. All these criteria will be taken into account. We will continue to support society and the Greeks, as far as electricity is concerned, with a generous program. There will be adaptation dynamics,” he said.

THE government representative noted that what we need to see – and we need a social agreement on this – is an effort to save energy and electricity.

“Today we presented the measures, incentives and disincentives, as far as the public sector is concerned. Corresponding savings can and should be made in the private sector and in households and businesses. No, I repeat, with a mandatory nature. There will be no ceiling consumption, under no circumstances. However, the more one saves, the more profit and benefit one will have. On the one hand, because one will burn less electricity and see a greater boost. These are not the only measures. There are also measures that have they also do with the financial support, they also have to do with how much they will get bonuses in their salary those who have the option to get some more bonuses, depending on the efficiency. I want to say that the measures for saving are in different categories. They also have to do with recruitment – for example for the Organizations – they also have to do with the further financial support of these Services, to meet their needs”, in stop it.

Regarding Turkey, he said that the neighboring country continues a persistent tactic of rhetorical sharpening, provocation and distortion. “Distortion of International Law, of Treaties, of the reality that applies every day in the Aegean and of History. We have pointed out in a very clear way, and we adhere to it, that we are not being dragged down this slope, but we are deconstructing the arguments and claims of Turkey, many times with what they invoke, their maps, their statements. And this proves that this tactic of Turkey is persistent, but it is dead-end. It does not produce any results. Equally, it highlights even more the fact that Turkey is a country that does not promote stability in our region. And on the other hand, all of its goals, or all of them, which at times here in Greece we feared, are stagnant. I am referring to the equipment from the USA. I am referring to the fears that we had for a warmer Summer. And there things went better than some might have expected. This does not happen in a vacuum. It happens because both Greek diplomacy on the one hand, but also the in our time as a whole, with the weighty political power it has and with the sufficient deterrent power it has acquired, it can guarantee stability in the Aegean, as well as our sovereign rights”, stressed Mr. Oikonomou.

In addition, he emphasized that we must have our reflexes activated to the maximum extent with composure, with sobriety, but always alert, watching what is happening on the opposite side. “We have done this all this time, we will continue from now on with self-confidence and with confidence in our capabilities. Self-confidence and trust that also derives from the fact that we have taken care with a conscious government choice in recent years to strengthen our deterrent capability. In this direction we will continue with the stability, prudence and possibilities created by our economic policy. We are not going to deviate from it. All the government priorities are running in terms of strengthening the Armed Forces. At the right time and in the right way, equipping and renewing, strengthening the Armed Forces, where necessary and with the priority that the Armed Forces give to the political leadership, is still going forward. The defense of the country is an end in itself for us, that is clear “, he added.

Regarding the investigation committee, he said that “we have said many times that the Leader of the third parliamentary party in the country can visit the National Intelligence Service and there he will be informed about the reasons for his surveillance within the existing institutional framework”. He also added that from then on, the information that will be given to him, he will evaluate if he will make it public or keep it for himself and if any legislative intervention is needed, the Government is willing to do so.

“It’s another thing to talk about a horizontal abolition of a framework governed by privacy and this has ramifications and dimensions and others, beyond the specific case. The secret services are not an agency, to try with horizontal regulations to deal with long-term pathologies, such as those observed in this particular case. In the Examination, one of the things, which at least our side will contribute, will be to see which proposals, which path will be the one we should walk with the widest possible consents, in order to find a better balance between the role to be played by the secret services and the better protection of fundamental rights in favor of citizens”, he added.

Finally, referring to the electoral law, he said that he imagines that the prime minister will be questioned at the TIF “and he will answer in a very clear and clear way”.

And he added: “What has been done lately is to present the facts of the whole case. The electoral law is a tool, not a purpose. The purpose is to use these tools so that the country has stable and sustainable Governments, to prevent anarchy or weak Governments. That is the purpose. This is the right choice, especially in the times we live in. The institutionally right thing is not to lock the country into a prolonged period of anarchy or instability, or that a Government should emerge which will not have the readiness, the ability, the immediacy to make the decisions it needs, without introversion and internal procedures every three or so times”.
