Presenter and Paralympic athlete, Fernando Fernandes was at Rock in Rio and did not shy away from the subject involving influencer Lorrane Silva. Better known as Pequena Lô, she said she was treated disrespectfully by model Ellen Jabour at the festival for being a wheelchair user.
“She was ableist”, fired the athlete. Capacitism is the name given to discrimination and social prejudice against people with a disability.
“Often, we need to conquer things by force, and that’s why I do and live intense things. We have to defend ourselves like Pequena Lô did. ‘Excuse me, this space is mine’. Literally fight for your space, and talk, yes, about the situation to avoid new episodes”, said Fernandes. “I learned the hard way,” he added.
The presenter said he regrets that if one like this still happens, but stressed that he sees a much better situation today in terms of respect and tolerance for diversity.
“We have already broken many barriers. I feel more and more free and strong in my right to come and go”, said Fernandes on Saturday (10).
At the time, he also anticipated that he will be a presenter in the new season of the program No Limite, on TV Globo, next year. “The direction is already working on the new production. The only thing I know is that it will be tough for the participants in 2023”, highlighted Fernandes.
