Cardi B pleads guilty to fight with two women at strip club

by

Rapper Cardi B, 29, pleaded guilty this Thursday (15th) in a case involving a fight with two women at a strip club in New York in 2018. Upon admitting guilt, she had her sentence eased, will provide 15 days of community service and has a three-year restraining order that prevents her from approaching victims.

The singer admitted in Queens Court that she threw a hookah at two sisters who worked there and paid a friend $5,000 to attack them. The victims said they were attacked by Cardi’s people because she believed one of them had slept with her husband.

Asked by Queens Supreme Court Justice Michelle Johnson if she understood the terms of her plea bargain, the rapper replied “Yes” in a low voice. She had already faced 12 counts, including two felony counts of attempted assault on women. “No one is above the law,” prosecutor Melinda Katz told The Guardian after the sentence.

The rapper’s attorney, Drew Findlin, told the New York Post that she decided to settle because a three-week trial and jury would be a distraction from the things she thought were most important. “There are a lot of things she has planned for her family, for her career and for the community.”

In a note sent to People, the singer said that part of growing up and maturing is being responsible for your actions. According to Cardi B, this is a practice she is trying to instill in her children and that the example starts with her. “I’ve made some bad decisions in the past that I’m not afraid to face and own up to. These moments don’t define me and don’t reflect who I am now,” the rapper said.

If Cardi B doesn’t complete community service by January 2023, she will face jail time.
