Margaret II: The longest-lived Monarch since the death of Queen Elizabeth

With Vogue describing her as “an unsung heroine of style”, many have pictured her smoking, eating too much and wearing bold, flamboyant clothes, which is quite unusual for a monarch.

After the death of Queen Elizabeth II of Britain, the only living queen left is Margrethe II of Denmark.

She herself is known for her fun-loving personality which is unusual from the harsh image of the monarchy that everyone has in their minds.

With Vogue describing her as “an unsung heroine of style”, many have pictured her smoking, eating too much and wearing bold, flamboyant clothes, which is quite unusual for a monarch.

This week she celebrated 50 years on the throne, making her the world’s longest-serving head of state.

We should also mention the good relationship the two queens had as Margrethe was one of the first international monarchs to demand tribute to her Majesty. Upon announcing Queen Elizabeth’s death, she sent her “deepest thoughts and prayers” to King Charles and Camila in a statement.

She said, “He was an important figure among European monarchs and a great inspiration to us all. We will miss him terribly. Her 70 years of reign and service to the people of the United Kingdom, the realms and the Commonwealth is an unprecedented and remarkable achievement. We will always remember her important contribution to their development and well-being.”
