Twitter users expressed their surprise at Oh’s presence.

Millions of internet users and TV viewers who watched the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II were surprised to find that among the famous people who attended the ceremony was the famous star of Killing Eve and Grey’s Anatomy, Sandra Oh.

Dressed in black, Oh appeared at Westminster Abbey, wearing a Canadian lapel pin.

The Canadian-American actress, 51, has been inducted into the Order of Canada as an Officer since June this year.

In fact both opera singer Dame Kiri Te Kanawa and British Doctor Sir Patrick Vallance were also among those who attended the ceremony.

Dame Kiri, joined the New Zealand Order in 1995 and Sir Patrick, who has been the UK Government’s Chief Scientific Adviser since 2018, is a member of the Honorary Order of the Bath.

Twitter users expressed their surprise at Oh’s presence.

“Was it just me or did I really see Sandra Oh at the Queen’s funeral?” asked one.

Oh was made an Officer – Canada’s second highest political honor – for her artistic career in Canada and abroad.

The title was created in 1967 by the Queen to honor people “whose service shapes our society, their innovations fire our imaginations and their empathy unites our communities”.

The actress joined the procession along with other Commonwealth Officers appointed to take part in the ceremony.

Other members of the Canadian delegation included Olympic swimmer Mark Tewksbury and musician Gregory Charles. The delegation was led by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his wife Sophie Grégoire Trudeau.

Governor General Mary Simon, who appointed Oh to the Order of Canada, was also in attendance.

Oh was born in Canada to South Korean immigrant parents. For a decade, she played Dr Cristina Yang on the medical series Grey’s Anatomy, for which she won several awards, including a Golden Globe and an Emmy.
