Larissa Manoela, 21, used social media to vent about her health. The actress commented that she just received a diagnosis of polycystic ovary and confessed that she was shaken by the news.

“Yesterday, through a detailed ultrasound, I discovered that, in addition to endometriosis, I also have a polycystic ovary,” she reported. “It’s not easy being a woman.”

“The positive diagnosis scares and I confess that it destabilizes”, he continued. “But I’m sure I’ll find the best treatment for both diseases!”

Polycystic ovary syndrome is characterized by increased production of androgen hormones (mainly testosterone). Relatively common, its main symptoms are acne, weight gain, increased hair and infertility.

Last year, the actress had already revealed that she was diagnosed with endometriosis. “Since my first cycle, I had a very heavy flow, I was very unwell, I was in pain to the point of passing out,” she shared. “When I went for annual exams and follow-ups, I received the diagnosis.”

She even asked fans to see a doctor if they think they have something similar. “The most important thing about me sharing and opening something so personal about my life was knowing that I can inspire other women to also do in-depth research and save and give quality of life to these women,” she said.

This year, singer Anitta had surgery to treat endometriosis. The chronic disease can affect women of reproductive age and is characterized by severe menstrual cramps, pelvic pain, uncomfortable sexual intercourse, bowel or bowel movements, pain in the lower back and thighs and difficulty getting pregnant, among other symptoms.
