Rare Beatles interviews have been converted to NFT (non-fungible tokens) – digital certificates of ownership and authenticity, corresponding to unique items, digital or physical and now sold at auction.
The online auction for the Beatles Collection began on December 6 through the Voices Of Classic Rock (VOCR) archive, which houses 650 historical interviews and radio shows with great rock artists recorded between 1964 and 2008.
Four separate excerpts from conversations with Paul McCartney (in “Chaos And Creation In The Backyard”), John Lennon (in “A Day In The Life”), George Harrison (in “Abbey Road”) and Ringo Starr (at ‘His Lost’ Medallion ‘) are available at the site.
With the sale of Beatles interviews for the first time, Voices Of Classic Rock enters the NFT market. Each clip is a .WAV file along with a unique portrait of each Beatles member.
Jonathan Firstenberg, CEO of Voices Of Classic Rock, said of the auction: “The wide variety of Beatles interviews we have in our collection are, perhaps, our most valuable assets – so we wanted to start with John, Paul, George and Ringo – the ultimate Classic Rock stars! “
“The owners of VOCR acquired this important record from its creator, Kathleen Wimbled, because they realized that there would be a future increase in the value of audio content for all things classical rock music.”
“All the interviews contained in the VOCR are unique and, like any other important and unique object or work of art, will continue to be considered rare and increase in value over time.”
