‘Riverdale’ actor who killed his mother fears he’ll be raped in jail, says website

Sentenced to life in prison after killing his own mother, actor Ryan Grantham, 24, fears being raped and beaten in jail. That’s what Chris Johnson, the lawyer for the “Riverdale” actor, told TMZ.

According to Johnson, the fact that the young man is thin and measures only 1.60 meters makes him look like a boy and that could make him “physically, psychologically and sexually intimidated” if he is held in a maximum security prison.

The defense’s idea is to convince the judge to transfer the actor to a medium-security penitentiary, but that depends on a bureaucracy. While this decision is not made, he remains detained in a prison center.

To arrive at the life sentence, Judge Kathleen Ker took into account several details of the crime, which she called tragic and moving. The case took place on March 31, 2020, when the actor was 21 years old. At the time, her mother, Barbara Waite, was playing hooting at home when Ryan shot her with a rifle in the back of the head.

A video taken by the actor shortly after the crime was shown in court. In the images, he shows his mother’s body and confesses to killing her. After that, he would have taken cash, bought weed, made some Molotov cocktail explosives and gone to Netflix.

He ended up going straight to a police station to confess that he had taken Barbara’s life. Before, however, he considered carrying out a massacre at Vancouver’s Lions Gate Bridge or at Simon Fraser University, where he was a student.
