There is no shortage of synchrony for Bia and Branca Feres, 34. Identical twins and synchronized swimming competitors, the sisters appear on social media with the same hair and clothes and even play “who’s who?” with the fans. The pregnant belly, however, they claim were not planned, were “almost synchronized”.
“My sister really wanted to be a mother, for me it was a little bit of a scare”, says Bia, who is already the mother of little Isaac, who is only one year old. Today, she expects Serena, scheduled for the turn of the year, in the so-called “almost synchronized” pregnancy with her sister, Branca, who gave birth to Nicole on the 25th.
For the pair, the three months between pregnancies were more than welcome. “We didn’t want to get pregnant together because each one lives in a different state, but we wanted to have close children to be very friendly, just like us”, says Bia, who lives in São Paulo, while her sister lives in Rio de Janeiro.
“We found out about Bia’s pregnancy first,” recalls Branca. Bia found out about her second pregnancy four months after Isaac was born, however, she lost the baby in the second month of pregnancy. “I was sad, but I said ‘it’s all right, it’s time to enjoy Branca’s pregnancy’. One period later, I got pregnant again. I wasn’t trying, I ovulated out of date”, completes the athlete.
Branca has been trying to get pregnant since her honeymoon – she got married last October after postponing the ceremony four times due to the pandemic.
Now, with Nicole in her arms, she says the experience has been different from what her sister had with Isaac. “I see some mothers who have problems after pregnancy and Bia didn’t, so it’s been different. I’m in a little pain to breastfeed and I had a lot of pain postpartum. But I want to go through it all again.”
To mark the “almost synchronized” pregnancy, the sisters took a number of photos together, seeking a “magical and playful format, like our sport”, posted on their social networks. “Two equal people already attract attention, now, two equal people, pregnant and together, attract even more attention”, jokes Bia.
With so much similarity and synchronization, the twins say that even Isaac has confused mother and aunt. “Babies calm down with each other’s voice, we have a very similar voice timbre. [Isaac] goes on Branca’s lap, thinking she’s her mother”, says the athlete.
For them, the connection between identical (identical) twins is something inexplicable. “People don’t understand our connection, only the twins. Our husbands admire and respect it. It’s a love as great as a mother and son love”, says Branca. “Only those who are stuck with their brother understand”, adds Bia.
For the future, the two intend to focus on the family, while reconciling with a career linked to advertising through social networks. In addition, they say they look forward to working in television again, as they enjoyed the experience covering the 2021 Tokyo Olympics on Band.
