Iggy Pop covers one of his latest hits ‘You Want It Darker’
Blue Note Records has announced the release of a remarkable new album produced by Larry Klein entitled ‘Here It Is: A Tribute to Leonard Cohen’, featuring stunning renditions of Leonard Cohen’s legendary songs by an outstanding lineup of singers including : Norah Jones, Peter Gabriel, Gregory Porter and Iggy Pop.
“In the last 15 years of his life he became my closest friend. He was the wisest and funniest friend I ever had,” says Klein. After he died, I often covered his songs with other artists. One reason, of course, is that the songs are very good and the other is that it helped to feel him around me.”
And he continues “It was an extremely pleasant experience to redefine these poems and ‘illuminate’ them in a different way.”
Iggy Pop covers one of his latest hits ‘You Want It Darker’. It was released in September 2016 and two months later Cohen passed away.
“There’s nobody like Leonard in the whole world,” said Iggy Pop.
The album is out on October 14, according to Pitchfork.
