The exhibition is being held on the occasion of the 110th anniversary of the start of the war
An exhibition entitled “A History of War” opened in the central lobby of the National History Museum in Sofia, marking 110 years since its inception. First Balkan War (1912-13)as announced by the museum.
The main exhibit is a collection of postcards that chronicle the history of the war in chronological order. From the mobilization, in September 1912, to the victories of the Bulgarians in Lozengrad (Kirklareli) and Loule Burgas-Pinarchisar and from the tough Battle of Chataltza, the difficult daily life of the Bulgarian soldiers, to the capture of the fortress of Edirne, he considers hitherto unassailable, the postcards present a vivid and authentic image of the battle.
The First Balkan War is a memorable event in its modern history Bulgariaduring which officers and soldiers demonstrated high fighting spirit, patriotism and devotion to the ideals of liberation and unification of all Bulgarians, ideals bequeathed by the National Revival of the 19th century.
Also at the center of the exhibition are works by painters Lazar Yordanov and Kharalabi Tachev, some of which are being shown publicly for the first time. THE Lazar Yordanov was born in Macedonia and graduated from the Sofia Military School and the Sofia Academy of Arts. He worked as a war painter for the Bulgarian Ministry of War. Haralabi Tachev was the first Bulgarian decorative arts artist. He designed the coat of arms of Sofia and exterior and interior decorations for many buildings in Bulgaria, including the Cathedral of St. Alexander Nevsky and the Battenberg Mausoleum.
The “History of the War” also presents visitors with various weapons and decorations of Bulgarian officers and soldiers.
