Chico Buarque honors Lula in act and says: ‘This dark government will pass’

Singer Chico Buarque, 78, attended this Sunday (9) an act by candidate Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) in Belo Horizonte (MG) and repeated a phrase that was marked by the song “Apesar de Você” and that became an anthem against the dictatorship. “Tomorrow will be another day”, he spoke about the possibility of Jair Bolsonaro (PL) leaving power.

At the rally, Buarque also called the current government “dark” and received applause from PT voters. “Confidence that this government that is there, with all the darkest things it has, will pass,” he said wearing a party cap and atop an electric trio in Tiradentes Square.

Throughout the year, Chico Buarque had already shown his support for the candidate on several occasions. In March, he held up a flag stamping the ex-president’s face during a summer show at the Mangueira samba school, a gesture that provoked cheers and applause from the public, which began to shout the politician’s name.

The episode took place less than a week after Pabllo Vittar took a similar attitude at Lollapalooza, when the singer came down from the stage and walked through the audience, where she picked up a red flag with the face of former President Lula.
