Over the years the lake has developed into an important ecotourism attraction
Just two hours from Athens, at the foothills of Mount Pentelia in Corinthia, there is a wonderful man-made lake with blue-green waters that many foreign tourists, mainly tourists, refer to as the lake of Fonias. The reason for the well-known Lake Doxa in Ancient Feneo, which has managed to win the world’s favor for several years now.
The lake is located at an altitude of 900 meters and its magnificent blue-green waters reflect the imposing peak of Durduvana and the colorful mixed forests of mountainous Corinthia.
Its construction was completed at the end of the 1990s, and it relied on the Doxa stream that flows in that area and which in the past started in the area and ended in sinkholes near Mount Saita, in the south of the Feneos plateau.
Its perimeter, distinguished by the alternation of landscapes with rocks, wetlands and reeds, reaches 3.8 km. It is a relatively deep lake for its small size, as its depth reaches 40 meters.
