His holding cell Harvey Weinstein it’s so disgusting, his lawyer has argued that the former movie mogul is facing medieval conditions.

His lawyer, Mark Werksmanin his pleas to the judge on Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2022, even implied that his client has no place to go to the bathroom, a claim that was quickly shot down by the Los Angeles Superior Court judge.

The complaints come on the second day of jury selection, where Weinstein faces 11 counts of rape and sexual assault.

“It’s almost a medieval situation,” his lawyer said. “He is 70 years old. I’m worried about whether he’ll survive this ordeal without having a heart attack or stroke.”

The lawyer argued in court that he was left alone in the cell for three to four hours in his wheelchair. The judge said she would discuss the circumstances with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, but warned there was not much she could do.

“I’m not downplaying it, I’m just not sure there’s much that can be done,” she said.

The lawyer’s complaints were filed before Weinstein and 71 potential jurors entered the courtroom.

Weinstein’s defense team has repeatedly highlighted his poor health, both during his trial in New York and during pre-trial hearings. He was convicted of rape and sexual assault in New York in February 2020 and sentenced to 23 years in prison.
