The two wives will be played by Bafta winner Chanel Cresswell and Natalia Tena
The “Wagatha Christie” case, which shook Britain this summer, is being made into a television series for Channel 4. Actor Michael Sheen will be one of the protagonists of the legal dispute between two famous women of Colin Rooney, wife of former Manchester United footballer Wayne Rooney and Rebecca Vardy, wife of Leicester City player Jamie Vardy.
“Behind a jaw-dropping trial lies a story of two women in the media spotlight fighting for their fame,” said director Oonagh Kearney.
The affair started on social media in October 2019 when Rooney suddenly saw her Instagram posts published in the Sun newspaper. She “transformed” into Agatha Christie and discovered that her friend Rebecca Vardy was behind it.
Vardy sued Rooney for defamation and the High Court in London ruled in favor of Coleen Rooney, according to the Guardian.
The two wives will be played by Bafta winner Chanel Cresswell and Natalia Tena. The talented Sheen will take on the role of Rooney’s lawyer, while Simon Currie will play Vardy’s lawyer.
