“Women don’t have to live in fear of silence because their careers will be destroyed,” she said in an interview
THE Issa Raeactor, producer and creator of the hit HBO comedy “Insecure”has taken aim at the mechanisms of Hollywood for the protection they offer to the protagonist of the movie “The Flash”, Ezra Millereven though he has repeatedly broken the law.
Asked by Elle magazine about how the entertainment industry needs to change, Rae said: “I think it’s extremely important, as the mantra goes, ‘Listen to the women’.” He then referred to Miller who has made headlines this year as he has been arrested multiple times for assault, harassment and even burglary.
“I’ll be honest, the stuff that’s going on with Ezra Miller is, to me, a microcosm of Hollywood,” Rae said. “There is this person who repeatedly breaks the law, who behaves brutally, and as opposed to arresting him and stopping production, there is an attempt to save the film and them.” He was referring to the upcoming Warner Bros. superhero movie “The Flash,” which was originally completed in 2021 and is scheduled for release in June 2023. Just days ago, Miller returned to the set to shoot the final scenes.
“This is a clear example of what Hollywood can do to save itself and protect offenders,” Rae concluded. “So don’t do that, and women might be able to have careers. They don’t have to live in fear of being silenced because their careers will be ruined. It’s just an ongoing pattern of abuse that will only continue if Hollywood keeps insisting it’s that way.”
