Milia or Amerou, according to the local Vlach dialect, is a beautiful picturesque village

Milia Metsovou is located a few kilometers outside of Metsovo and is the last village of the prefecture of Ioannina towards the east. In the past it was part of the ancient Macedonian Tymfaia and was even considered as one of the most important passages between the two great geographical divisions of Greece, Epirus and Western Macedonia.

Milia, or Amerou in the local Vlach dialect, is a beautiful picturesque village, built in a small mountain valley at 1160 meters, on the slopes of northern Pindos. During the period of 1940 it mourns several dozen victims. Three times it was burned by the conquerors. When the Germans set fire to the village, they placed the women and children in the church of Agios Nikolaos and for a whole week their only food was the oil from the church’s candles.

When visiting Milia you should take into account that apart from food there is no hotel or even a guest house for accommodation, so nearby Metsovo or nearby Krania is the ideal place for that.

Excellent
It is built at an altitude of 642 meters and is only 48 km from Ioannina.
