The former US first lady’s new book comes four years after the release of her bestselling memoir ‘Becoming’
Michelle Obama took the public behind the scenes of the photo shoot for the cover of her new book “The Light We Carry: Overcoming in Uncertain Times”.
In a behind-the-scenes video she shared with People magazine, the former US first lady shares what inspired her to write her new book.
“I was listening to people’s stories and, you know, thinking about some of the lessons that I’ve learned in life and some of the tools that I use to keep it all together,” Obama says on the set of the photo shoot. “I thought it would be useful for a lot of people out there to put it all in one book and share it with everyone.”
Obama’s latest book, which comes four years after the release of her bestselling memoir “Becoming,” aims to unite readers who together can build paths to progress even in difficult times.
“I’ve learned that it’s okay to acknowledge that self-worth is wrapped in vulnerability, and that what we share as humans on this earth is the urge to fight for something,” she wrote in a statement introducing her new work last July.
The Light We Carry, published by Penguin Random House, debuts on November 15 and is now available for pre-order.
