Comedian Whindersson Nunes, 26, had to rebut criticism on social media for allegedly leaving his ex-fiancée, Maria Lina Deggan, 23, because her pregnancy didn’t work out.
On Twitter, Nunes responded to a follower who suggested that a woman would only serve the comedian if she could bear him a child.
“You’re talking about my greatest pain as if it were a soap opera to you, you talk about my son’s death as a chapter. And in your soap opera I’m the guy who wants a baby at all costs. But that’s just in your head, I hope people have a sense with you that you don’t,” he replied.
The confusion began after an interview by Maria Lina herself to Marie Claire magazine. In it, he revealed that it was Whindersson who wanted to put an end to the relationship after the loss of João Miguel, his son who was born 22 weeks premature.
“A little later, Whindersson and I split up. It wasn’t my choice. That wouldn’t have happened for me. It was months of a lot of suffering, right? First I lost my son, and then the person who was on my side, the father of João Miguel, who chose to leave my life. I’m learning to get back on my feet,” she told the publication.
Despite this, she revealed that both remain colleagues. “We have a lifelong connection, which is our son. I have a lot of respect and affection for him, he was a very important person, he was with me in the best and worst moments of my life. I really admire him.”
On August 13, Nunes announced the end of their relationship. “It’s sad to say and I don’t even know why I have to say it, but Maria and I are no longer together,” began the artist in his Instagram post. “Not everyone knows how to deal with everything, neither do I, I promised I would be someone and I couldn’t be,” he continued.
“I know my thousands of flaws and we have to know when to withdraw so as not to harm anyone, even if no one understands. I hope from the bottom of my heart that you don’t attack Maria, I won’t even say ‘no one does ‘because evil exists, and it’s out there and it won’t stop.”
Finally, he remembered his son, João Miguel, and stated that despite being separated, he and Maria will “always be linked by an angel that God gave”. “An angel who came to make an impact in all ways and one day I also hope to understand all this, and get back on my feet, because a dull clown loses his job in the circus.”
