by

FX and Hulu are set to release a documentary on the scandal of Janet Jackson’s appearance in the Super Bowl halftime, in which Justin Timberlake is involved.

The 2004 Super Bowl halftime show became a much-discussed spectacle, with Justin Timberlake instantly exposing Jackson’s breasts to millions of viewers. While Jackson’s career took a turn for the worse, Timberlake’s career seemed to be evolving more dynamically than ever.

The documentary, “Malfunction: The Dressing Down of Janet Jackson,” seeks to examine both the cultural and racial currents that clashed on the Super Bowl stage and explores how the episode influenced one of the most important musicians in pop history.

Deadline reports that the documentary will include rare interviews and footage of those working in the auditorium on the night of the Houston Super Bowl. Both the executives of the National Football League (NFL), the organizing authority of the American Football League of the same name, and MTV discuss the consequences of the incident and the way in which it shaped pop culture forward. In addition, members of the Jackson family, industry leaders and cultural critics will provide their own information on the case.
