Man’s relationship with footwear in an exhibition at the FIT Museum in New York

by

The exhibition explores our physical, social and psychological relationships with footwear and their evolution over the centuries.

Footwear, which accompanies man throughout his life since childhood, is at the center of his exhibition Museum of the Fashion Institute of Technology – FIT in New York entitled “Shoes: Anatomy, Identity, Magic”.

The exhibition explores our physical, social and psychological relationships with footwear and their evolution over the centuries.

In particular the theme of anatomy emphasizes how we stand and move differently when wearing sneakers rather than stilettos. It also highlights how peep-toe shoes and thigh-high boots draw attention to different parts of our anatomy. The aim is to prompt viewers to look closely at footwear, which is not actually designed to be worn, and to consider their own physical relationship with shoes.

The identity section emphasizes how we tend to associate different styles and brands of shoes with different types of people.
