by

The 3 finalist films for the LUX Audience Award were announced on Saturday, December 11, at a European Film Awards ceremony in Berlin. The movies are:

“Flee” by Jonas Poher Rasmussen
“Great Freedom” by Sebastian Meise
“Quo vadis Aida?” της Jasmila Žbanić

The chair of the European Parliament’s Culture and Education Committee, Sabine Verheyen (EPP, Germany), stated:

“European cinema is the mirror of our society. It is one of the easiest ways to communicate our European values such as equality, freedom of expression and democracy. In the EP Culture Committee we are extremely proud of European cinema.

The films nominated for the LUX Audience Award are, as always, of high artistic quality and each represents a different perspective of our European narrative. They deserve our attention because they move us and give impetus to our thinking. Congratulations to everyone who worked on the selected films. Now the choice is ours. As Europeans, we can all watch and vote for these films. The decision on which film will win the LUX Audience Award belongs to us “.

European citizens can take part in the nomination of the winning film as early as 12 December. The winning film is chosen jointly by the citizens (50%) and MEPs (50%).

Voting ends on 25 May 2022 and the winner will be announced on 8 June 2022 at the EP plenary in Strasbourg.
