The 10 most popular destinations in Greece by category according to British Tour Operators

For the first time, EOT organized the Greek Travel Awards in London, as part of the international tourism exhibition WTM London 2022, which closed its doors breaking all visitor records

At the center of interest was Greece and its tourism product at the international tourism exhibition WTM London 2022, which closed its doors breaking all visitor records of previous years and 2019.

There the EOT organized for the first time in London the Greek Travel Awards 2022, with the Office of the EOT UK and Ireland in collaboration with 7 specialist Tour Operators.

The aim of the Awards ceremony was to promote different Greek destinations in the British media and promote Greek destinations to specific target groups interested in alternative forms of tourism, as well as the specialized presentation of the Greek tourism product to highlight new destinations to repeat visitors our country.

The vote also served as a barometer for the preferences of the British in special categories and as a trigger for greater and more intense visibility of the EOT through the targeted annual advertising campaigns directly in the Media for Greek destinations, activities and unique experiences of visitors to Greece .

Here are the ten winners presented by APE-MPE, from the vote of the British T/O, by category:
1. Best City Breaks Destination: Athens
2. Best Walking Destination: Arcadia/Peloponnisos
3. Best Sailing Destination: Lefkada
4. Best Gastronomy Destination: Chania
5. Best Luxury Destination: Santorini
6. Best Outdoors Destination: Kefalonia (center photo)
7. Best Culture Destination: Athens
8. Best Sustainable Destination: Ikaria
9. Best Diving Destination: Alonissos
10. Best Beach Holidays Destination: Crete

A particular impression was made by the public’s preference for Ikaria, known worldwide as one of the 5 blue zones in the world, confirming the interest in longevity, as it is one of the 17 goals of the UN for sustainability. Thessaloniki, Corfu, Skiathos, Halkidiki, Andros, Naxos, Rhodes, Kos, Lesbos, Zakynthos, Mykonos were finalists in the above categories, confirming the variety of the Greek tourist product and the public’s love for Greece.
