The latest creations are a combination of glass, precious metals and silicone in a polymorphic material, in which virtual garment effects are simulated
The fashion designer is back with new robotic creations, Ying Gao, this time turning to the world of NFTs and the metaverse for inspiration. Seemingly pulsing and twisting as if evoking flowers, the latest creations are a combination of glass, precious metals and silicone in a polymorphic material that simulates virtual garment effects.
Although the movements were simulated by robotics expert Simon Laroche, both creations of the “2 5 2 6” collection were handcrafted by Ying Gao. The released short film shows this merging of the real and the digital, featuring two models wearing clothes that come to life in slow motion.
“If the role of the fashion designer is to give a shape and a role to materials intended to dress the body, we can reflect on the question of the immaterial garment and the virtual body, which lack matter, and their level of reality when digital has become a true ‘second nature’,” writes Ying Gao, commenting on the ‘2 5 2 6’ collection.
